Ilkay M. Genc Ltd. was first established by Mustafa Halil Genc in 1958 as a small business in Famagusta. After he was killed by Greeks during the cold war in Cyprus in 1963, his only son, Ilkay Genc, took over the company. Since 1963, the company has developed a lot and became one of the biggest building materials sellers in North Cyprus. Today, the company has three branches in Famagusta, one branch in capital, Nicosia,  and also has the strongest wholesale team around the island which sells its goods to other building materials traders.
